The Old Pitcher Pump

Belief is like a 'sucker washer pump', one of those 'old fashioned' pump handle pumps...exactly. There is no better metaphor to 'faith'. You had to keep a bottle of water, to prime the pump with. Don't drink it, first!

In order to get the water up, from down below, you had to pour the bottle of 'saved water' down the throat of the old cast iron pump. The water in the bottle, was to 'wet the whistle' of the dried out 'sucker washer'.

Without wetting it, the washer would not pull, and no more water would come up from the well. You know, there's a joke here, but a fact as well...so, 'lubricate that sucker and pump like hell!. See what happens. Miracle!

Well, faith and belief, work the same way. 'Faith' is that bottle of water. Always keep it full, and never waste it, or use it up. Nurture it, for it will save you when nothing else will. 'Belief', is what you get out of what you put in.

There's water below. That old dry 'sucker washer', is the link between faith and belief. Unbelief is just gonna get you 'nothing'. Nurture it, care for it, like it were your best friend. Beside a dog...it is!

Amen!
